Pixie Cottage Saturday Tutorial

THE PIXIE COTTAGE SATURDAY TUTORIAL

Swirls of Beads

Materials used:
Cardstock
Design paper
Pixie Cottage Stamp "Hanna at the Pond"
Distress reinker colors
Coloured beads
Beading iron wire
Cutter
Flowers
Tag
Ribbon

Step One
Cut 30 cm (2 inches) of iron wire and fold in half. Now insert the bead.

Step two
Enter the other beads until you get near the end of the wire. Now fold the two wires inside the beads and let them go over to close the work.

Step Three
Turn the wire with the beads around a pencil or a circular object to create a swirl.

Now you have created the swirls for your work.

Step Five
Insert the swirls of beads into your creation.
I incorporated mine into an easel card!

I hope you have fun with this tutorial and remember that we will return with New challenges in September.
Happy crafting.

The Pixie Cottage's Saturday Tutorial

Brown Paper Bag Wallet

Materials Required
Brown Paper Bag (Lunch Bag)
Design Paper

Step One
Cut the Paper Bag length wise at 3 1/2"

Step Two
a) Tape the flap (bottom of the lunch bag) down
b) Tape the open end (top of the lunch bag) together

Step Three
Score the paper bag at 4" and at 8 1/2" as in photo below. Note position of bag in photo below.

Step Four
Fold the paper bag along scored lines, as in photo below.

Step Five
Cut 6 pieces of design paper and adhere to paper bag.
2 pieces sized 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" (for outside and inside left panel)
2 pieces sized 4 1/4 x 3 1/4"  (for inside and back center panel)
2 pieces sized 3 1/4" x 1 3/4" (for outside and inside right panel)
Close up shot of inside.  Very similar to a wallet!

Step Six
Get creative!  Stamp, stick, color, punch, etc..... Once you have finished close the wallet with a paper clip, or a binder clip as I have below.  I added a nice little ribbon to mine to make it a bit more fancier.
Given the stamp theme, I am adding a Starbucks card to my wallet.  You can also put money in yours for that hard to shop for loved one.  The fact that you went out of your way to create a fancy wallet for the money really shows the recipient just how much you do care.

Happy Crafting!

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #118 -For Mom or a Special Lady (last challenge for a while)

It's a bittersweet day here as after close to 3 years of challenges The Pixie Cottage is taking an extended Summer vacation. I have been with the team from the beginning and have run the challenges as the team leader/coordinator for over 2 years. We have had fabulous guests, lots of tutorials and of course 100's of stunning cards! But Michelle needs to take a break from worrying over the blog and I am going to England for a family wedding and long vacation in the summer so the decision has been made to take now for a very long overdue "recharge of the batteries".
We are going to use the time to reorganize, craft when we want to rather than because we have to and work out how best to come back in September strong and with the challenges you want to see and will play along with.
But we do have one final one and we thought it was fit to end with a challenge about that very special person in your life, Mom. If you don't want to make a Mothers Day then by all means make a card for any special lady in your life or simply use our sketch, we just you to have fun and join in with this last challenge before our break.

Here is the sketch for you.

Remember you can use the sketch or the optional technique or both!
The randomly picked winner will win two stamps of their choice from the Pixie Cottage Collection. The winner and the Top 3 favorites will be announced on the Friday after the challenge ends.

Here are the fabulous creations from the Design Team this week.
