The Pixie Cottage Welcomes a New Artist..... Faith Skrdla & BLOG CANDY

First of all, let me apologize for not getting this up earlier. Major computer problems here this week, but I think I am up an running again, minus a chunk full of change.  Gosh, I hate computer issues. So without further ado...............
The Pixie Cottage is thrilled to add a new illustrator to our family!!  Please welcome Faith Skrdla!  You might already know Faith from Designed 2 Delight.  Faith is an illustrator that comes to us from Michigan, here in the USA.  Her delighful style can also be found in digital on her own web site.  But we here at The Pixie Cottage know that there are still many stampers who love their rubber... so we are brining some of her designs to life in red rubber.

We will be starting with this cute stamp set. Three images and two sentiments are included.

Tutorial time with Sharon - Xmas Tree Pop-up

Here's a quick and easy way to add a pop-up into your Christmas cards that will delight children. It only takes around 5 minutes to make.

You will need: 1 sheet of A4 Card, a score tool, scissors, pencil, a large scallop circle nestabilities die.

Step 1. Score and fold the A4 card in half.

Step 2. Place the nestability on the folded edge with the fold running up the middle of the nestability, and approx 2cm up from the bottom edge. Draw around 4 scallops in pencil.

Step 3. Move the nestability up and draw around 3 scallops. Repeat this step 2 more times reducing the number of scallops drawn round each time.

Step 4. You should have something that looks like this.

Step 5. With the paper still folded in half, cut the scallop lines that you drew.

Step 6. Open the card up and score lines as shown below. Note that the edge of one part of the tree is scored up to the centre of the outside scallop on the tier above.

Step 7. Fold the score lines so that when you turn the card over, the tree pops out and none of your drawing lines can be seen.

Step 8. Cut the sheet down so that it will fit into the centre of your card, and decorate as you wish.

And this is the inside. The tree has been coloured with Promarkers and decorated with the new gold and silver flowersoft.

I have not been by to post the latest rubber stamps. Shame on me!  They are definitely worth seeing. Sweet Shoppe by ArTish is wonderful alone, but also would make a perfect background stamp for your favorite Tilda stamp.  I can already picture that sweet 60's Tilda sitting on the counter.

I also think The Stockings were Hung  also by ArTish would work perfectly alone or as a background stamp.

Now of course I have some new stamps by Sandra Hammer!!  I know you Hannah fans were waiting for another Hannah for Christmas cards. Hannah's Candle is perfect for that!

And last, but certainly not least, another perfect stamp to stand alone or be used as a background.

Now you can see there really is something for everyone.  Also recently added is a great stamp from ArTish Dashing Through the Sky with some added sentiments, and another Hannah stamp called Hannah's Letter that you can by alone or in a smaller version with a sentiment shown below.  And if you haven't seen the Bird stamp collection you must stop by and check those out, either pick your bird, or buy the whole set!
